Thalpos
Dear friends & guests,blue 1

Winter in Skopelos has been very much about the biennial olive harvest. Throughout November and December the hills and valleys of our island have been busy with the sound of bamboo sticks knocking the precious fruit from the trees. The results were plentiful.

The early weeks of January saw a short burst of snow, a rarity on this warm island. The almond, plum and cherry blossom came and went and spring came early in the year. Now May and the summer has already taken hold, the verdant hills and valleys reflected in the blue Aegean sea.

In early April the Skopelos Municipality along with many volunteers from across the island joined in a mass beach cleaning campaign under the banner ‘Let’s do it!’ This was just part of a global venture which began last year. We are proud of this island and want to make sure that everybody enjoys it the way we do.

This year the Greek Orthodox Easter fell later than usual and Easter Sunday was celebrated on 5th May. This meant that a number of very lucky tourists were able to sample the delights of a very special Greek holiday. The beautiful religious ceremonies with candlelit processions through the towns of Skopelos and Glossa gave way to a relaxed holiday. It was rare to see the Greeks in their own peaceful environment just ahead of the busy holiday season. The tavernas and restaurants full and the families enjoying al fresco meals at their country homes and at the beaches.

There is perhaps, no better way to enjoy a Greek meal than with the Greeks themselves and this year Thalpos is proud to introduce “Cuisine Local” holidays particularly suited to those who wish to indulge themselves in the luxury of traditional and beautifully prepared food.

Our "Cuisine Local" holidays are offered in May, June, September and early October. Our intention is to give you the opportunity to have pre-booked meals in handpicked island tavernas, (restaurants) that offer a variety of authentic Greek dishes prepared with fresh ingredients and following a tradition and love for unpretentious food in a very comfortable relaxed environment.

No better time then, to consider booking an early holiday to Skopelos, Alonissos, Skiathos and the Ionian!

Have a look at our new villa additions and take advantage of our Special Offers for this Summer!
Please remember that we can organise meet and greet services upon arrival at Skiathos airport or any other airport, ferry tickets, car and boat hire and give you suggestions to find a flight using one of our certified agents in Uk and elsewere in Europe. Alternatively there are cheap flights to Athens, Thessaloniki and Volos from where we may organise transfers and tickets to the islands.
