Villa Diona, Skopelos island, Greece

The main entry door leads into a hallway which gives access to the living area and bedrooms on the ground floor, as well as stairs down to the bedrooms on the lower floor. The extremely spacious and comfortable living area has the traditional wooden ceiling, large sofas , open fireplace and satelliteTV with enormous glass sliding doors which open onto the large balcony from which to take advantage of the amazing views, The large living room also has a dining area for the odd day when you may not wish to dine outside and this is situated off the fully fitted, modern kitchen which comes complete with a full cooker, microwave, coffee maker, fridge and plenty of storage cupboards. A convenient door leads from the kitchen out to the built-in BBQ and alternative dining area which is situated close to the private parking area for the villa.

The balcony itself wraps around three sides of the villa with an extremely comfortable sitting area, lounge chairs and a shaded dining area to the front overlooking the sea, a marble dining table and gas BBQ to one side looking towards the hillside town of Glossa and further loungers to the other side which looks down the island towards Elios/Neo Klima. The two generous and beautifully furnished double bedrooms on the ground floor are across the hallway from the living area and each has its own shower room/wc, traditional wooden ceilings and large glass doors giving access to the balcony and superb views across the Aegean Sea.

Stairs from the hallway in Villa Diona lead down to three further double bedrooms on the lower floor, one of which is an amazing master suite which comprises a large double bed, en-suite shower room and large sitting area with comfortable sofas. Large glass doors again take advantage of the wonderful views and give access to the lower terrace, furnished with tables and chairs for that late night glass of wine. The further two spacious double bedrooms each have their own shower room/wc and access to the lower terrace through glass doors overlooking the same panoramic views.

Although you may not wish to leave the well-appointed and beautifully furnished Villa Diona, the village of Glossa, which has one of the best restaurants on the island, is only 10 minutes away by car and can satisfy all your shopping requirements with a supermarket, butcher and bakery as well as café bars and tavernas. Its architecture and history is also worth exploring. The busier town of Skopelos is approximately 30 minutes by car from the Villa and has numerous shops, tavernas and cafes lining the seafront. If visitors can tear themselves away from this amazing Villa, there are motor boats for hire in Panormos and kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding available in Elios/Neo Klima. A dive centre has also been recently established and is based in Skopelos Town. There are many walking trails across the island and Villa Diona is perfectly situated to take advantage of those starting in the north of the island, taking in the rugged coastline and the verdant countryside.

The beach at Armenopetra is one of the quietest beaches, even in peak season, but visitors can also enjoy more lively beaches just a short drive away, e.g. Milia and Kastani (one of the locations for Mamma Mia!) with their lively atmosphere and good bar service. The beautiful long beach at Panormos is a little further down the island, overlooks the uninhabited island of Dassia and is lined with tavernas for that midday lunch or evening meal whilst watching the sun go down. There is also a small beach and kantina at Agios Ioannis, but most people go there to visit the small church sat on top of the rock which was featured in Mamma Mia! And has been the wedding venue of choice for many couples since.
